Down to 1 false positive! It's that AntiVir one. What is the story on that one, is that product real? What do you think the chance is that cnet.com and other software download sites check a new software submission against that product to determine if the software submission is 'malware free'.

That's good.
Regarding Avira, I had only semi successful experience with them. It is single antivirus that usually keeps to detected something, even if all other antiviruses do not do that. But usually, it's false detection name is "PCK/Enigma". I contacted to their support team many times, and they declined to fix this detection, because, as they said: "We do not detect malware, just warn that the file is packed with Enigma". They advised this detection appears only if user set the higher protection level in antivirus. So usual users will be never seen it.
But again, since your file is digitally signed, they may solve it too.
There is submission form for Antivir, try to upload the file yourself there:

Do not forget to mark file as false detection.

I assume that it's not the most popular antivirus, and just as long as I can pass the virus scanner of cnet.com, I will be happy. I will try uploading to Avira myself and try resubmitting my product to cnet.com.

I think Avira is more closer to popular than to non popular, so it would be good to fix it too.
Just note, virustotal use highest detection options for Avira, these are not default options for antivirus that many users and services use, so if you get some detection on virustotal, this does not mean it's users will see this detection.
Moreover, some detections are informative only, i.e. they notify user, but do not do any action with this file (nor delete, nor block).

Looks like eSafe's detection is based on detection of AntiVir, both detect some Kazy virus. I repeated submission to Antivir.
Unfortunately, eSafe does not have submission form.
Btw, recently I got very promising email that taggant system will be launched within 3 months. It should solve all our problem.
Also, please keep me informed about all false detections that happen with your software. We will solve all of them.

I tried submitting my program to upload.cnet.com again and it bounced again with a false positive. I assume that they scan against a lot of products like virustotal does. I also assume that there may be scanner products that are not tested against on virustotal but which upload.cnet.com may test against.
Do you have any idea what scanning product upload.cnet.com might be using? They are easily the Kings of Shareware on the internet and it is of great concern to me that I can not get on them since I feel I have a substantial product that is already better than launchy.

Too strange. We also have a freeware product, that is protected with Enigma Protector and is
not digitally signed. False detections for it happened quite often. But we listed it well on download.com. There was no any problem at all. Just looking at our experience with false detections, it seldom stop user to use the software.
Does download.com report the reason of rejection? Maybe they write something about detection in the email, or how the rejection looks?

I just want to be sure that they rejected software by false detection, and not by any another reason.

they don't give any specifics in the email. I contacted their support department to try to get the specifics and am waiting for their reply but do not know how much they will tell me.
download.cnet.com is important to me because it has huge built in traffic and is also the most trusted download site.
